5 Tips for Social Media Success

Today, we are living in a world where we spend up to 4 hours a day (maybe even more!) scrolling through social media. We are constantly surfing through photo content on Instagram, catching up with friends on Facebook, scrolling through inspo pics on Pinterest or laughing at memes on Twitter.

Especially since we are in the times of quarantine, I have noticed my screen time has gone up. Why is this happening? What can you do to grow you followers/brand online? Here are a few helpful tips I have picked up over the years.

Number 1: Organize exciting content

First of all, what you post obviously has a lot to say about you and your business. Whether you are uber-professional in what you post on Facebook or LinkedIn, you may post something a little more laid-back on Instagram for example. This is important in knowing your target audience and who your followers are. Finding content can be tricky and may take some time. But it is worth it! I have a few FREE resources available I can share with you – feel free to email me or comment on this post!

Number 2: Schedule your posts!

You have found a few pictures and captions that you are ready to post. You cannot post these all at once or this will overload your page and followers with notifications.. So what can you do? I have a solution! There are a ton of apps out there to schedule out your content in advance. You can schedule out a day, time and even include tags in your post using apps like Planoly, Hootsuite and or Sked. Now you can plan out certain days to post, but what time of day is the best to post? Moving on to #3!

Number 3: The BEST time to post content

Sprout Social and Wordprss.com say mid-week is the best time to post for most social channels:

Through personal research on Instagram and Facebook, it says my followers (and clients pages) get the most traction mid-day, during the week. Usually, the weekends are not as great for posting – many people are not on their phones because they are out and about. Try posting a recap of your weekend on Sunday evening. I bet you will get more likes than usual!

Number 4: How often should I post?

I recently met with my business adviser and social media expert, Kinga Mnich and I asked this very question. To keep your audience engaged, you should be posting at least 3 posts to your feed per week, and a minimum of 2-4 story posts per day! I know this may seem like a lot, but with the ability to re-post other followers and those with influence in your community, you are connecting more and more with your audience and will gain more followers and exposure for your page.

Number 5: Engage with your followers

You have done everything right so far. You have found great content, you are asking good questions to your audience and keeping things interesting! One of the great things about social media is our ability to connect. Once you put out a great post, keep up with the comments and responses. This will help you build a relationship with followers so they will want to keep engaging. Commenting on other posts gives you visibility to like-minded followers. Lastly, direct messaging has had a big impact in 2020 so far. This is a personal communication between you and a follower or potential customer. A great way to get connected and share contact information on a more private level.
